Mission Photographs, Contact Sheets, Negatives 1952-1961; 1955-1957.

This series comprises approximately 120 black and white photographs and several contact sheets of subject matter pertaining to Malaya and mission work performed there by the United Lutheran Church in America. Many of the items are undated, but all appear to have been taken between 1952-1961, with the majority of photographs being taken from 1955-1957. The majority of contact sheets are for photographs taken by Leon V. Kofod, and many have caption sheets. Subject matter for photographs in this series includes village life, medical clinics, schools, people, missionaries, churches and congregations, and various scenes of Malaya. Of special note are the photographs from a 1956 visit to Malaya by Dr. Franklin C. Fry, president of the United Lutheran Church in America (ULCA). Many of the photographs were used for publication purposes. There are several photo-postcards and one color photograph. It appears that most of the material pertains to work in Malaya, but this is not known for certain due to the number of photographs that are not identified. Files are arranged alphabetically by subject.
